Where are you going?

New shoes, old shoes, big shoes, smalls shoes, school shoes, work shoes, party shoes, trainers, slippers, no shoes...

I wonder where you are going this week? How will you get there? Who will you see? What will you do when you are there? Which shoes will will you wear? How many times will you put them on? How many different pairs of shoes will you wear this week?

The Morning Rush...

As I put my shoes on this morning, in the race to get out of the house and found my daughter's stray socks...again... I wasn't thinking about how I was going to spend time with God today or even this week. I wasn't thinking about how I could encourage my daughter to learn from an early age the importance of making time for God. I was thinking, I hope we've got everything because I haven't got time to come back and get it!

I've yet to meet a family who aren't rushing around wishing they had more time to get ready in the morning before work, school, nursery, or whatever other adventures the day holds in store. But I wonder how often we take the time to invite God into our busy lives? How often do we take time to pause and be with him?

A challenge...

Let's be honest though, the thought of getting up even earlier in the morning, and then trying to encourage the rest of your family to do the same, in order to spend time with God is probably not going to work... but how about making time for God in the ordinary everyday things that we already do? The Bible says:

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

What an amazing encouragement this verse is! We can have peace at all times and in every way. I wonder how different our days would be if we took time to breath in God's peace at the start of everyday. I challenge you this week to take a deep breath every time you put on a pair of shoes or socks, and ask the Lord of peace to fill you with His peace at all times and in every way.

A Prayer...

Lord God, I thank you that you are always with me wherever I go and whatever I do. In the busyness of this week, help me to find the time to rest with you. Amen
