Thankfulness: The world
What do you think is the biggest thing God created?
Can you think of the smallest thing that God created?
What is your favourite part of the world God created and why?
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
What a beautiful world
We live in such a big and beautiful world, but I wonder when was the last time you really looked at God's creation and admired it? All too often we walk around with our heads down, focused on where we are going and what we are doing next.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Whilst the world is not perfect now, as it was in the beginning, there are still many wonderful things in it that we so easily miss, and fail to truly appreciate. I wonder, when was the last time you looked up at the sky and tried to count the stars, or stopped on a walk through the park to look at the intricate patterns of the leaves on the trees? When we look closely, it's amazing the wonders we can see in God's creation.
This week, look around you on your way to work, school, the shops etc. and try and discover five new things about God's creation that you hadn't noticed before, and thank God for them.
You may also like to take a look out of the window as you open the curtains each morning and thank God for the wonderful world he has given us to enjoy.
Dear God, thank you for the wonderful world you have created. Please help me to notice and appreciate all of the big and small things that you have made. Amen.
When we read the account of how God created the heavens and the earth in Genesis chapter 1, we can see that at the end of every day He looked at what he had made and saw that it was good. There are two things we can learn from this: one, 'he looked', and two 'he saw'. God spent time taking in the fullness of all that he had created each day, and having done so, he was able to admire it's beauty.
