So little time and so much to do...how can I possibly make room for more?
As Christians we are called to read the Bible, pray, and make our relationship with Jesus Christ the main priority in our lives. It is so easy to say, but often much harder to do in practise. If we struggle to do this ourselves, how much harder will it be to model this to our children and encourage them to grow up wanting to actively engage with God's word through prayer and studying the Bible.
It is sometimes said that it is easier to learn new things when you are young. That may be true, but it is never too late to start (or re-start) focusing our own and our families eyes and lives on Christ.
Time is such a precious thing in family life and so although the thought of having to find time for something else in an already packed week may seem daunting or overwhelming, it will be worth it. After all, what better thing is there to invest your time in than time with the one who gives new life!
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17
With these short devotions for you and your family to do together, the idea is not to give you another thing that you ought to be doing, but rather to help you think about and engage with God in the day-to-day things that you are already doing. So why not take some time to think, discuss, pray and act on some of the challenges in these weekly devotions.
We will be praying for you as you begin this journey of growing your faith at home.
Lord God, thank you for the promise of new life in you. Please help me to make spending time with you a priority. Amen
